Issue with road surface
Reported in the Roads and Highways category anonymously at 14:06, Thu 18 October 2018
Sent to Rutland County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1440814.
I was driving from Stamford to Bourne on 14/10 when I lost control of my car on the gentle left hand bend just before Essendine. I was doing 40mph, and reducing speed but not braking, and my car span out of control. It was raining but I really think there is a problem with the road surface. I have since heard of other people having the same issue at other times.

As you will know there has been yet another accident on the bend coming into Essendine from Stamford. It occurred at around 8.30 this morning in the same position as the previous ones. As before only one vehicle was involved. This is a frequent occurrence this accident happening before the signage could be replaced following the last accident and the signage had only just been replaced following the accident previous to that! When driving out of the village I have on a number of occasions had to avoid cars coming towards me on my side of the road having lost control. Possibly the road surface is a cause. However there os no doubt that many people drive too fast around the bend especially if the road is damp, as it was this morning. Would it not help to install some speed calming measures before the bend together with more obvious signs?
