Deep channels in verges
Reported in the Roads and Highways category anonymously at 12:53, Friday 8 February 2019
Sent to Rutland County Council 2 minutes later
A number of roads in the county have very deep channels cut into the verges which are perpendicular to the road.
These may be to assist with road drainage, but pose a potential hazard to any road users (motorised vehicles, horses, cycles) in the event that they veer off the carriageway either accidentally, through necessity, or by the actions of other road users.
These channels are right up against the road edges so also pose a risk of the road sub-base being washed out resulting in dips in the road surface.
