Obstructive parking at junction of Station Road and Main Street.
Reported in the Parking category anonymously at 18:04, Mon 4 November 2019
Sent to Rutland County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1831714.
The Highway Code states in rule 243 states 'DO NOT stop or park: opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space.' This allows drivers to use the junction with a greater degree of safety as drivers can see oncoming traffic. Vehicles turning into Main Street from Station Road unfortunately have a restricted view of traffic from the left, increasing the risk of a accident, as there are vehicles parked on Main Street within the 10 metre threshold to the left of the junction. There are also cars parked to the right of Station Road and within 10 metres of the junction, but this causes less of a problem, at least for drivers aware that they may be there when turning left into into Station Road as it is a blind corner. The junction is a low speed t junction in village location, but the risk is still there and the council may consider appropriate action is necessary.

There are no restrictions to be able to civilly enforce. RCC working with parish who alerted RCC to an issue. Ongoing, to be at HTWG (https://www.rutland.gov.uk/ my-community/ transport/ transport-strategy/ highway-and-transport-concerns/ ) in 2020 although restrictions may not be recommended as there is an argument that parking limiting visibility helps calm traffic.
