Very large puddle on footpath of Stamford Road, Oakham.
Reported in the Footway or Footpath category anonymously at 19:56, Mon 13 January 2020
Sent to Rutland County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1935529.
Every time it rains, pedestrians are confronted with an extremely large puddle in the footpath due to inadequate drainage. They have to then walk into the main road to pass, negotiating oncoming traffic. Walking on the verge is not an option because it is dangerously slippery - made worse by the state in which it has been left after recent water installation. This is a well used route by many pedestrians, some with children in push chairs and some on mobility scooters. This problem has existed for years, yet nobody has any interest to rectify the issue.

Thank you for your report. We have had a large number of drainage issues this financial year and have now had to prioritise works on main carriageways with high traffic or speed, and areas where properties are flooding. Flooding issues are becoming worse across the country and we have found this year in particular, that there have been an extensive number of reports. Therefore at this time, we are unable to financially support potential required works to resolve this issue, from this year’s budget. Please be assured that this problem hasn’t been overlooked or ignored and whilst this report will now be closed, the monitoring of the issue will continue.

Council has no interest in this, due to lack of resources and prioritisation, in spite of the fact that it presents a public danger and has existed for many years.
