Roof floods after rainfall. Possible blocked drain.
Reported in the Roads and Highways category anonymously at 12:24, Wed 15 January 2020
Sent to Rutland County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1939255.
The dip on the A6121 on the Stamford side of Ketco Avenue is repeatedly flooding after medium or heavy raining. This has happening a lot recently and suggests a drain may be blocked. Traffic travelling from Stamford is confronted with a flooded road just over the brow of the hill. This can be very dangerous.

Thank you for your report. We have had a large number of drainage issues this financial year and have now had to prioritise works on main carriageways with high traffic or speed, and areas where properties are flooding. Flooding issues are becoming worse across the country and we have found this year in particular, that there have been an extensive number of reports. Therefore at this time, we are unable to financially support potential required works to resolve this issue, from this year’s budget. Please be assured that this problem hasn’t been overlooked or ignored and whilst this report will now be closed, the monitoring of the issue will continue.

Report from Cllr Mary Cade, Ketton Parish Council, I was at Ketco Avenue during a torrential downpour and it seems possible that part of the cause of the huge puddle that forms on the A6121 beyond Ketco Avenue may be due to incorrect road levels in the Avenue with respect to drains. There was a large flow of rain water from the Western arm of Ketco Avenue which cannot flow into the drain at the end of that arm of the avenue as it would be required to flow uphill ! As a consequence the water misses the drain and flows along the N edge of the main road (Stamford Road ) and collects in the dip before the bridge. I assume that like Pit Lane, Ketco Avenue is a Hanson Road - so perhaps they could be persuaded to resurface/relevel both roads at the junction with the A6121

We have assessed your report and the investigation of this defect has already been included on our programme of works. During this investigation the highways contractor will aim to remedy the defect. In the event that the highways contractor is unable to remedy the issue and the investigation exposes a more complex matter further works will need to be programmed. IMPORTANT: To report anything dangerous, please call us on: 01572 722577. Regards Rutland Highways
