Dangerous road crossing

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2256328.
The B668/Exton Road junction should be looked at by the highways dept, as a matter of priority. Crossing from the Greetham Road pathway into the Pastures access/cut through, and vice versa, is sometimes like playing a game of Russian Roulette! Pedestrians have to be very aware of 3 directions of traffic, as they cross diagonally, from one road side to the other. Not only do you have to look left and right as you cross, but you also need to checking behind you. Exiting from the Pastures side is hindered by hedgerow blocking vision to the right up the Exton Road. I have had a couple of near misses as I didn't see the vehicle coming (unless I stand in the middlle of the road to check........which kind of defeats the purpose!). Nor can you always hear them, electric cars compound the problem. No signage is apparent on the Exton Road, warning of a concealed pedestrian crossing. Vehicles come down the Exton Road, towards the junction at speed, look right and if it is clear carry on to the B668 and continue. I have seen a few near misses involving cyclists on the B668 being nearly hit by cars, one of which was a large Range Rover. The existing signage leading up to the junction and on it could be improved, foilage cut back, better illumination etc. But the main advantage would be for another small path to be branched off from the exsisting path which would give a direct crossing, and not a diagonal one, which is dangerous. It would mean possibly re-siting a couple of signs, but nothing major. As a comment, surely crossing a road diagonally is a dangerous practice? I would be happy to discuss with a highways representative my concerns if you so wish.

As per my previous submission, I thought it appropriate to include some photo's to reinforce my concern. Cannot see the give way sign because of tree foliage plus it is sited on a bend directly on the junction. No signage to pre-war of give way further down.

This was a request for improvement that is being considered by the Hightways and Transport Working Group - see https://www.rutland.gov.uk/ my-community/ transport/ transport-strategy/ highway-and-transport-concerns/
