Very dangerous footpaths
Reported via iOS in the Footway or Footpath category by Cllr Ian Razzell at 11:07, Sat 20 February 2021
Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2559003.
Initially reported well over 12 months ago, these paths are not owned by the County Council but RCC do lease the land that sits either side and they are used regularly by elderly residents and young families accessing the play park. Now ain a very dangerous state, they need urgent attention by either the landlord (owner) or the County Council. Several people have already fallen or twisted ankles/knees and grading and repair of the other is long overdue.

We regularly walk along the foot path which runs towards the pedestrian/pram/ mobility scooter crossing over the railway. The initial part of our route is along Branston Road, the section that joins to West Road. It is becoming increasingly difficult to use the wide pathway that runs past the old gas works. The hedge belonging to the property overhangs the full width of the pathway. It is a conifer hedge which is gradually becoming lower and lower. My husband, who is just under 6' tall will soon have to walk along the road! Perhaps you could ensure the house owner could cut this back so we can use the pathway comfortably

I believe the issue has now been escalated but it would be useful to have a formal update and timeline for repair through either the landowner or RCC

Please can we try and move this forward a little? The paths have reached a very dangerous state and either the landowner or RCC (as the tenant) need to complete restoration of the footpaths as a matter of some urgency.

I have reposted about this - the path has deteriorated further and there is now a small sink hole near the play area
