RCC need to FINISH the works near the bridge

Reported via desktop in the Rights of Way category anonymously at 10:51, Wednesday 21 July 2021

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later

Landowner has been complaining for over a year that RCC started works replacing the bridge & putting in several metal kissing gates & erecting a fence BUT HAVE FAILED TO COMPLETE THE WORK as they had promised in 2020. Stuart & Helen need to ENSURE THIS IS PROPERLY COMPLETED as the landoners at Grange Farm Cottage have been subjected to abuse due to the incomplete works which walkers seem to be blaming them for whe it is RCC at FAULT.

  • Please note that the post with the Rutland Round marker on it is lying on THE GROUND inside & adjacent to the landowner fence to the left of the stile facing OUT of the village towards Ashwell. It need REINSTATING BEFORE IT ROTS so that a whole new post is not needed. STOP WASTING MONEY & do things properly the first time.

  • Path impassable except in wellies around 1 stile & along the fence that RCC started BUT HAVE NOT FINISHED. Landowners receiving abuse as walkers blame them for the mess.

  • Much WORSE today due to the heavy rain yesterday. The "steps2 on the footpath above the bridge are treacherous & the growth of nettles & brambles unacceptable. The mud and standing water around both sides of the stile makes usage difficult - slippery & unsafe. There is growth of nettles & brambles on the slipplery footpath from this point until the next metal stile. RCC AND landowners need to take action.
