Hedges, overhang including nettles and thorny branches
Reported via desktop in the Overhanging tree, hedge or shrub category anonymously at 21:28, Mon 26 July 2021
Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2892910.
For a couple of months the pavement is becoming more difficult to use including being harmed with nettles and thorny branches. A single person can walk along the pavement with care but someone in a wheelchair or pushing a pram would have difficulty. There is not a pavement on the other side off the road therefore certainly dangerous for a disabled person. Pleas can this be cut back asap, my understanding is that as it is on the main road it is the responsibility of RCC and not the Parish Council.

Created this 26th July, now 5th October and still no reply other than an automated response saying "We will investigate this and respond to you within 10 working days". Noe response and certainly no action, even harder to get past without being hurt with the brambles etc. This website is a waste of tax payers money.

Today Oct 31 2021 while walking along this path I hit my head on a road sign which is far too close to the path and too low for someone to walk under. The path is narrow as well at this point as the hedges are over growing the path even though this has been reported in the past. The sign should not be so close to the pavement area It should not protrude at a level where someone can walk into it The hedges should be cut right back I sustained an unpleasant injury to my forehead as shown in the photo and a bad jolt to my neck which made me stagger and fall The injury could have been even worse This needs immediate action as it is not acceptable when as pedestrian is injured by a badly placed road sign. This was reported over two years ago and the hedges have still not been cut back, there are thorny branches crossing the pavement falling people to walk near the road.

This hedge was cut back in 2022 and is on the schedule for further work in 2023.
