18" collapse outside school entrance

Reported via desktop in the Cracked or Damaged Road Surface category anonymously at 00:35, Fri 6 August 2021

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later

Substructure seems to have collapsed. Motorists take avoiding action into carriagway, but if this is not possible, they have to veer into school entrance, hopefully in the absence of pupils.

  • This hole in the road is getting worse, when will it be fixed properly? This is not superficial there is problem with drain or soil collapse under the road.

  • The large depression appears to be getting deeper. It seems to be associated with a problem with the underground drains. I have reported on this problem before and have sought an interview with reception staff at Catmose. On very wet days surface water can be seen flowing from the hole. This then flows down the north-side gutter to the next drain down. I live almost opposite on Main Street and have reported on this problem for a number of years. I will continue to monitor it.

  • This issue is still getting worse. Lorries/tractors are driving over the hole and it makes the properties opposite literally shake! Feel this is quite a significant issue and needs urgent attention!
