Blocked drain in wardley

Reported via desktop in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category by Rosemary Harris at 09:08, Tuesday 22 November 2022

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later

The drain is blocked causing the road to flood and water to run down Wood Lane, a public bridleway and also an adjoining field. We have tried clearing silt and leaves from the top of the drain cover but that hasn't worked. This is a frequent occurrence. The road in this vicinity never gets the attention of the Councils Road Sweeper Lorry due, according to the driver, of the Council's policy of unkerbed roads not being swept. There is a drain cover a few feet down Wood Lane. The driver of the gully sucker lorry sent to unblock the drain on a previous occasion refused to back his lorry enough to deal with the drain at that point in case he got stuck despite that part of Wood Lane being hard-cored. The result of the road being flooded so often in winter is that it becomes pot-holed and Wood Lane and the adjoining field becoming boggy.
