FixMyStreet ref: 4683987 not been 'fixed'

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown category anonymously at 13:23, Wednesday 2 August 2023

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4851372.

On 17 June I made a report FixMyStreet ref: 4683987 about invasive brambles and thorns making waking difficult 6 weeks later you updated and closed the report as being fixed. I have just got back from holiday and walked the path which is clearly untouched. I cut at least 30 thick intrusive thorn stalks whilst walking past today. This whole hedge (about 100 metres) needs a heavy duty machine to cut it back, as suggested 6 weeks ago.

  • The foliage on the Aldgate Farm side of the footpath (east side) has been cleared. The problem lies with the boundary hedge on the west of the footpath which has not been touched since first reported in June. The hawthorn hedge is growing further into the footpath and is mixed with blackberry thorns. I continue to snip off the worse stems but it is an impossible task for me alone out walking my dog. It needs a mechanical cutter, which had been done in past years. Unfortunately the paddock has now been sold by Mr Daly and the new owner may be unaware of the problem. Other walkers are now avoiding the footpath as it is difficult to negotiate.
