New inspection cover on sewer/drain
Reported via desktop in the Manhole & Drain Covers category anonymously at 07:40, Tue 22 August 2023
Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4914996.
The new pipe for the development currently under construction is too high for the road surface and bridged with tarmac making this into a virtual ramp when driven over. The cover is in the Braunston bound carriageway at the Braunston end of the current roadworks.

To support this report, the developer / utility company have destroyed the original road surface, leaving the highway in urgent need of resurfacing. Cars are now swerving around the manhole.
Accepting that our highway engineers are busy people, this still needs prioritising early, to ensure that the costs for repairs don’t fall to the local authority.

Over three months since the initial report and this stretch of road is now horrendous. Used (carefully) yesterday, the raised area is a disaster waiting to happen and has deteriorated further, the utility installations have destroyed the road surface and the opening (yesterday) of the new egress onto the estate left piles of mud and debris across the road surface.
It needs an urgent planning / highways inspection and enforcement notices to have these issues resolved before there is a serious accident.

We have now inspected the location of the report according to our highways inspection policy which can be viewed at https://www.rutland.gov.uk/ roads-transport-parking/ highways/ highways-plans-policies/ highway-inspection-policy.
We cannot find any defect that meets the level that a repair is required and therefore no repair is required at this stage. Thank you for reporting this to us and this report has been closed.
