Tree oozing black liquid

Reported via mobile in the Trees or Vegetation category anonymously at 11:40, Wed 6 September 2023

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4964533.

The tree closest to the waste bin seems to be suffering. It’s leaking a black liquid. Many dog walkers have talked about it as they are concerned as to what it is. According to Google it could be a pathogen affecting the tree. I thought it best to highlight it to you in case it’s negatively affecting the tree’s health and that of the other wildlife.

  • Tree assessed and the liquid has been discovered. It is likely to be bacterial wetwood formed from the decaying section of the tree. The tree's health overall is fine and the fungal bacteria seems no more dangerous than many other natural features found throughout the area.
