Sewage leakage from manhole onto public footpath?

Reported via desktop in the Foul waste/sewage or water leak on Highway category anonymously at 13:07, Thu 7 December 2023

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5292514.

Yesterday I noticed an area of footpath with standing water, some frozen and as it’s on a public footpath a danger to pedestrians. This morning, discoloured water was bubbling from the manhole which I understand is a sewer. Urgent investigation is needed.

  • This is the situation at this location this morning, I have tried to call but the line just goes dead. The water is bubbling up through the road to about 100mm, the surface of the tarmac appears to have dropped slightly. Busses and heavy traffic continue to drive over it. I noted following sending this report that you did actually reply to my original request to fix the issue on the 8th of March, I had been on holiday and missed the e-mail telling me that you had closed the case as it was not significant. You are the experts on this so I hope you are right as having reported this with many other people we would not want money being spent on legal costs and compensation rather than fixing a road.
