Flooding of roadside

Reported via desktop in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category anonymously at 13:31, Wednesday 17 January 2024

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5455563.

There appears to be a water leak which is running from a pedestrian footpath, adjacent to the location shown. This has been evident for several weeks. Unfortunately the leak (which itself requires addressing) is resulting in a flood on the road, degrading the verge. I believe the water pools on the verge and roadside as a result of a blocked drain, which also requires attention.

  • Images uploaded to illustrate the extent of the problem and source of leak. Not only is this is degrading the village green, it is a slip hazard to pedestrians using the footpath and the road. The risks is exacerbated when the ambient temperature falls below zero and the surfaces become icy.

  • This is still an ongoing issue. My parents can not get into their car without getting wet feet or in a worse case slipping on the frozen water. They are elderly with one suffering from dementia. This was first reported in 2019 and the case shut for no apparent reason in 2021. I have called twice in the last week with todays call finding no information from last weeks call. I have been waiting for a call on this from roads too to no avail. This is an accident waiting to happen in the cold weather. I know there have been many reports from others living in the village but no one is dealing with this issue
