Hole at the side of the road

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 17:09, Thursday 22 February 2024

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5616801.

I noticed the hole this afternoon (22/02/2024) around 4.30pm, this could potentially become a bigger problem should the structure of the road become weaker and turn into a deep pot hole, it also poses a risk should anyone slip and such. The location is on the main street in empingham, as can be seen in the pictures a gravel drive way on the right hand side of the Road and the hole is located right opposite the gates on the left hand side just down from loves lane. I'm not sure how long it's been there as I only noticed it because I could hear water draining and I didn't recall Andy drains being around that area on the road so I looked and that's when I saw the hole.

  • Please be advised that this hole has now got bigger and deeper. When you look inside the hole there is a significant gap between the tarmac and the earth in which the base cannot be seen. This has the potential to collapse causing significant damage to the road and compromises the safety of those nearby/road users.
