  • Thank you for your report. We want to focus our resources on removing ragwort that is posing a risk to livestock and are encouraging farmer/landowners to let us know where they have concerns. For any reports that we receive, these will be looked at on a case-by-case basis with areas identified to be high-risk targeted for removal. For example a high risk would be where there is significant ragwort on a highway verge that is very close to grazing land. A low risk would be ragwort on verges adjacent to housing, arable land or industrial land and this would not be removed.

    If you are able to provide firm locations for any potentially high-risk areas then we can look to take action. The DEFRA Code of Practice on how to prevent the spread of ragwort does not seek to eradicate Ragwort as it is an important part of UK biodiversity. Regards Rutland Environment Services
