Continued flooding at the bottom of the hill and the associated flooding of the White Lion Inn

Reported via desktop in the Property Flooding category anonymously at 09:39, Wednesday 8 January 2025

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6949279.

We have lived in the village for over 10 years now and have always noted how the brook near the White Lion has become increasingly blocked up. As it has become blocked so the area around the inn has increasingly flooded, to the point that it is now an annual event and sometimes more than annual. This is very distressing for everyone around the brook area by the bridge, particularly the owners of The White Lion, but it is also a common village concern that this will force the owners out of the village and that we will lose a significant community resource.

  • Following the devastating flood of Sunday 5th January and our entire ground floor property being flooded and left with thick mud everywhere as well as sewage as well as debris, we are in the process of cleaning up once again and the closure, this time, for perhaps 2 weeks of no revenue to support us. One little job for you to do please, would be clean up the pavement outside the pub which is still thick with mud and which you should be doing not us, as we have enough to do as you can imagine. It would be a great help to have someone level all our gravel car park and fill in all the holes as well as retrieve our garden furniture from the other side of the brook, etc etc. But I know that wont happen, so please clean up the pavement so that another disaster of someone slipping on the mud doesnt take place. I guess if you havent done it by Monday 13th Jan, I guess your not bothered about people's safety and we will do it, as we have done everything else.
