Blocked road drains
Reported via desktop in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category by David Michael Nussey at 12:29, Sunday 9 March 2025
Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7248952.
At a point adjacent to the 30MPH speed restriction sign there are/were road drains/gullies on either side of the road. These used to be cleaned on a regular basis but have not been done for a long time. I say this with some confidence as neither drain can now be seen, both are completely covered with debris. This causes flooding in that area. Also flooding occurs at another point a few yards nearer to Wing. I believe that this is due to the fact that the “grips “ ( the trenches that allow water from the road ) appear not to have been cleaned out for many years.

We have now inspected the area and our assessment is that no action is required at this stage. The issue reported will be considered as part of the planned programme of work that Rutland County Council carry out.
The issue will be considered alongside other projects and requests and will be prioritised accordingly.
We cannot provide a timescale for a resolution or confirm that this will be rectified. We do combine individual works under our programmed works, for instance gully cleaning.
