Raw sewerage draining into local stream
Reported via desktop in the Foul waste/sewage or water leak on Highway category anonymously at 10:00, Friday 4 April 2025
Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7386772.
A gulley / trench has recently been dug on land between Mickley Lodge and the public footpath. Raw sewerage is now flowing down the man made trench. The sewerage smell along this stretch of the path has been vile for several months, but it is now very clear that this is a deliberate attempt to discharge raw sewerage from a cesspit down the trench and then into the local stream approximately 100 metres away.

This enquiry has been closed because it’s been determined that it relates to an un-adopted road. Un-adopted roads do not have to be maintained by the Highway Authority (Rutland County Council) under the Highways Act 1980. A legal duty to maintain these roads still exists, but it falls to the owners of the road to do so. In order to determine whether a road is adopted you can refer to the National Street Gazetteer website https://www.findmystreet.co.uk/ map
