Grass verge lost and hedge encroaching on highway

Reported via mobile in the Overhanging tree, hedge or shrub category anonymously at 14:31, Sat 19 July 2025

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7902460.

The hedge has completely overgrown what was historically a 1.5m verge meaning the road is narrowed for pedestrians cyclists and machinery. Larger tractors cannot get over far enough to give oncoming pedestrians and cyclists space. Farm machines and hgv’s with high level mirrors suffer even more from the encroachment as the hedge ‘arches’ out on to the highway above car level. This is a particular problem with harvest coming up, and an additional vulnerability round a very poor junction. This applies to the hedge round the whole perimeter of the reserve
