Water pouring out from manhole cover

Reported via desktop in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category anonymously at 14:47, Sat 6 December 2025

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8510235.

Water pouring out of manhole cover, flowing along road and down Tippings Lane. This problem was reported at the beginning of 2024 and subsequently fixed. There has been no problem until today. However, drains maintenance were opening drains around the Wakerley Road, Dovecote Close yesterday, inspecting and cleaning. Water was also coming out of the next cover nearer to Tippings Lane, next to the surface road drain which is completely blocked.

Updates

  • 31st January. Water is still pouring out of these drains and flowing rapidly down Tipping’s Lane. We understand following the Section 19 review, work is to be done on Bsrrowdens drainage system . Please can we be advised when this and other problems will be fixed ? Thank you

  • I reported this on 6/12/2025 and it continues to get worse even with the lightest of rain. The surface drain just along from the main outlet in the photo is now completely blocked and ones further down the road are becoming blocked. The drain cleaner was around a couple of days ago, but failed to do anything about these.

  • March 13th, and despite the drain cleaner supposedly clearing the surface drain yesterday (second photo), water is still running over the top. The manhole cover also has water flowing from it and this is after light rain last night (first photo). The drainage system is obviously seriously blocked along this section and looks like it will continue to flood down the road after any rain.
