Large overhanging laurel bushes

Reported via desktop in the Overhanging tree, hedge or shrub category anonymously at 12:42, Wednesday 8 April 2026

Sent to Rutland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9257625.

I am the owner of 6 Robin Close Oakham which shares a boundary with your roadside verge along the bypass. Alongside our property are a number of significantly large laurel bushes which are 5 metres in height and have spread such that they are leaning onto my boundary fence. During the high winds of storm Dave, it became apparent that if they are not significantly pruned the weight and movement of the laurel bushes will push the fence over. Additionally, it has become imposable for me to maintain your side of my boundary fence because of the impenetrable ‘forest’ the bushes have created. Therefore, please arrange for your contractors to carryout some maintenance pruning of your laurel bushes to reduce the height and spread. Until such time as the requested pruning is carried out, I consider the council is liable for any damage incurred to my fence line by these overgrown bushes.
